Clement DaVinci’s “Adventures Are Calling” — 3rd Street Gallery

Clement DaVinci’s show “Adventures Are Calling” opens at 3rd Street Gallery on Friday, July 7th.  The show will run through Sunday, July 30th.

The paintings in this exhibit conjure travel dreams and adventures.  The abstract landscapes depicted here convey a simpler life and sense of tranquility.  This is achieved by eliminating distractions and placing the focus on the subject, thus allowing the viewer to fill in the details from their own travel dreams and adventures.

I love the distinctive behavior of watercolor. By using transparent watercolor as well as applying near opaque gouache like a watercolor, I can acquire depth and texture in my paintings.  I also exploit the unique fluid qualities of watercolors by spraying, tilting, scraping, and letting it run on its own, a well as adding salt or alcohol to achieve my vision of the painting.

3rd Street Gallery is an Artist-Owned and Run Cooperative of local area artists. They’re located at 610 S 3rd Street. Gallery hours: Fridays, 4pm – 7:30pm, Saturdays, 1pm – 5pm, and Sundays, 12pm – 4pm.
