Rachel Chambers’ Art Show “Blush” — 3rd Street Gallery
When: Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays, gallery hours vary (appointments also available)
Where: 3rd Street Gallery, 610 S. 3rd Street
Rachel Chambers’ show “Blush” opens at 3rd Street Gallery on Friday, August 26. The show will run through September 18.
My work is about repetition in materials, techniques, and format. Layering and placement of colors, and how I can arrange the architecture on paper or in a space is my focus.
Everything that I do is in constant motion, informing the next piece. I cannot say for certain how long I will explore an idea. The common threads throughout my work are vibrance of color, rhythm of shape, and exploration of texture – all in response to my environment.
My most recent work in collage focuses on the way bees see ultraviolet light. I have abstracted most of the flowers and landscapes, and each composition has an element of an igneous pink. This fevered blush is what pollinators see. We cannot, and it is an abstract to us without the use of ultraviolet-induced visible fluorescence photography.
3rd Street Gallery is an Artist-Owned and Run Cooperative of local area artists. They’re located at 610 S 3rd Street.
