PECO Family Jams: Scrap-Work Tapestries — Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens
When: Sunday, March 13th, 12pm – 4pm
Where: Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, 1020 South St.
Not long ago, a visitor looked at the mosaicked ground in Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens and flashed us a big smile. “It’s as if a giant crazy-quilt of mirror, tile, glass, and cement was spread out over the empty lots of South Street! It makes me feel so warm inside.” This month we’ll be making tapestries inspired by our visitor’s marvelous, fanciful perspective. Rummage through piles of upholstery fabric, ribbon, feathers, buttons, yarn, and string which you’ll stick together to create your very own wall tapestry. This will be our first hands-on art-making event in two years, and will include several mini-tours of our fully mosaicked basement!
This event will be held in-person, free with admission.
PECO Family Jams are PMG’s one-of-a-kind, family-oriented programs, featured every second Sunday of the month between NOON and 4:00 PM. No reservations are required for PECO Family Jams, but admission tickets should be purchased in advance here.
