Martha Knox, “The CSA Project” — 3rd Street Gallery
When: Friday, March 25th – Sunday, April 23rd
Where: 3rd Street Gallery, 610 S. 3rd Street
Please join the folks at 3rd Street Gallery for Martha Knox’s new show, The CSA Project, on Friday, March 25th – Saturday, April 23rd. An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 25th from 4:30pm – 8pm.
In 2018 Martha Knox purchased a 22-week CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) full share from Red Earth Farm in Kempton, Pennsylvania. Each week she kept all the stems, leaves, peels, seeds, and any other vegetable matter that she didn’t cook and consume and turned it into 10″ x 10″ sheets of paper. Each week’s material yielded 2-4 sheets of paper.
In 2021 Martha began creating linocuts inspired by products she received in her CSA with Philly FoodWorks, and these were used in a calendar that was partially used to fundraise for that organization’s charitable works in the community.
In this exhibition Martha will show all 66 sheets of Red Earth Farm paper as well as numerous woodcuts and ceramics connected with community supported agriculture in the Delaware Valley region.
3rd Street Gallery is an artist cooperative gallery. Founded in 1978 to encourage and strengthen the participation of area artists by providing a community and a space to exhibit. For appointments, email [email protected]. Please visit 3rdStreetGallery.com for more info!
