Joe Klaus, “Past Conversations” — 3rd Street Gallery
When: Friday, April 29th – Sunday, May 22nd
Where: 3rd Street Gallery, 610 S. 3rd Street
Join 3rd Street Gallery for Joe Klaus’s show “Past Conversations” from Friday, April 29th – May 22nd.
Joe Klaus’s work follows memories, both manufactured and real. He explores the fine line between what we remember and imagine. Using mixed media including painting and photography, Klaus seeks to find the in-between of reality and daydreams.
This collection of paintings explores everyday people: people I pass on the street, people that I’ve lost touch with, people from my past life, people of my current life, and people who are now just phantom memories. With these works I’ve used only memories as reference to create the faux-portraits and surrounding auras that are manifested from the feelings I have as I put them on canvas. These figures do not have names because it is unnecessary to name them. It doesn’t matter who they are; it only matters that they were.
