Kiva Zip is a project through which lenders make microfinance loans directly to borrowers in the U.S. via the Internet. Microfinance is a general term to describe financial services to low-income individuals or to those who do not have access to typical banking services.T he Kiva City program helps small business owners get the financing they need to grow and create jobs.
Kiva Cities are a partnership of local community groups, microfinance organizations and Kiva Zip Trustees working together to connect Kiva lenders to entrepreneurs that they know and trust in their communities.

The Merchants Fund
The Merchants Fund is a Philadelphia charity established in 1854 to provide charitable gifts to business persons facing financial hardship. The Merchants Fund has succeeded for nearly 150 years by keeping the goals and objectives of its early founders in a constantly changing social and economic environment. The Merchants Fund is committed to providing for the economic needs of the merchant community with modest grants. Merchants must be located in Philadelphia for a minimum of three years.Business Stabilization grants of up to $10,000 are available to help small businesses remain stable and viable in the face of economic challenges, changes and crisis.

Jump Start Philly
Jump Start Philly is designed to attract new businesses and entrepreneurs that create jobs to Philadelphia by exempting them from paying the Business Income and Receipts Tax, formerly the Business Privilege Tax, during the first two years of operations. Additionally, fees will be waived for eligible new businesses for a variety of licenses and registrations, including the Commercial Activity License, formerly the Business Privilege License.

SSHD will be hosting workshops with SCORE (Service Core of Retired Executives) and the
US Small Business Administration to bring mentoring to new businesses people, assisting with business plans, budgeting and making contacts in the business world.

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is an investment to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity by providing greater access to education, capital and business support services. The program is delivered through partnerships between local community colleges, business schools, Community Development Financial Institutions and leading nonprofit organizations. If your business has a minimum of four employees and has been in operation for at least two years, you may be eligible for the program.
