The City specifies that, within six hours of the end of a snowfall or freezing rain, owners and/or tenants must clear a path at least 36 inches wide on their sidewalks, including curb cuts. The snow should not be swept into the street.
The penalty for violating this regulation can range from a minimum fine of $50 up to $300 for each violation. To report a sidewalk or curb cut that has not been cleared, call the Streets Department’s customer affairs unit at 215-686-5560.
We recognize that homelessness is an issue in our community that can and should be addressed with gentleness rather than disdain for our fellow neighbors that are without shelter. We encourage neighbors concerned for their welfare to reach out to one of the agencies below to assist them.
